The Northwest College women’s soccer team routed the Gillette College Pronghorns 5-1 last Wednesday in Gillette.

NORTHWEST 5, GILLETTE 1
The Trappers (3-2) were looking for a fast start against the Pronghorns (0-4), with Gillette College being a recently reinstated program after the college’s sports programs were canceled during the pandemic era.

Abby Derbyshire picked up right where she left off on the weekend, getting on the scoresheet inside the first six minutes thanks to an Autumn Wilson assist to make it 1-0.

Wilson got a goal of her own 14 minutes later, scoring off an Amy Price assist to double the advantage for the visitors midway through the first half.

Wilson later added a second goal, giving Northwest a 3-0 advantage heading into the break.

Gillette got its goal just out of the break in the second half, scoring seven minutes in and tightening the contest.

Just over 25 minutes later, Pressly Taylor put the game further out of reach on a solo goal to make it 4-1.

Derbyshire got her brace with just minutes to go, getting her second goal of the contest off a Katelynn Campbell assist to make the final score 5-1.

That win made it three in a row for the Trappers who have rebounded from a 0-2 start to the season.

Northwest was hoping to keep that momentum going against Central Wyoming (1-4) on Saturday at home before heading to Casper to take on Casper College (3-1) on Monday.
