Drone enthusiasts and those just learning the craft are invited to Northwest College on Saturday, February 25, for the Drone Flight Training & Obstacle Course Racing Program. The program, which begins at 10 a.m., is open to K-12, tech and college students, as well as teachers. Spectators are also welcome.

Registration for participants is just $10 and includes a Wyoming Drone Flight t-shirt while supplies last. Pre-registration at drone-challenges.org is preferred. There is no charge for spectators.

The event is being held in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center and features three events. They include the Learn to Fly Flight School at 10 a.m., obstacle course racing at noon, and a drone film festival at 2 p.m. Participants can attend some or all three sessions, bring their own drone (less than 300 grams with propeller guards), or borrow one from Northwest College on site.

The festival is being funded by the Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium, which sponsors education and research programs in the state in support of NASA missions. They include research fellowships and internships for students at the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community colleges, scholarship programs for community college students in STEM majors, grants for college and university faculty, and educational resources and programs for Wyoming K-12 students and teachers.
