POWELL, WYOMING – Award winners for the 4^th annual Northwest College Community Photography Contest and Exhibition have been announced, with selections made in amateur, professional, and high school divisions. The exhibit opened on January 29 at Plaza Diane in Powell and features 34 images from 11 amateur and professional photographers from Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming alongside the top 10 entries from high school students across the country.

Proceeds from the exhibition entry fees were used to award first, second, and third place images in the amateur and professional categories, with the remaining proceeds going toward future photography scholarships. Retired NWC Professor Emeritus of Photography Craig Satterlee served as this year’s juror. Satterlee has been a fine art and commercial photographer for more than 53 years and served as a professor at NWC for 36 years.

The annual High School Photography Contest, sponsored the last ten years by the NWC photography program, featured entries from 261 students from 21 schools in 10 states including Colorado, Ohio, California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Idaho, Florida, Montana, and Wyoming. Students entered up to three images in five categories that included people, nature, sports, human interest, and commercial food and product photography.

From these categories, the top ten images were selected by photographic communications faculty and staff members Jennifer Litterer-Trevino, Jayne Johnson, Christine Garceau, and Ronnie Wolfe, for printing, matting, and framing, and advanced to the semifinal judging. First, second, and third place were then selected from the ten printed in the gallery. These winners and their teachers will receive prizes that have been co-sponsored by Robert’s Camera of Indianapolis and the NWC Photographic Communications program.

High School Award Winners

• 1^st place: “Choco Musk at Sea”, by Allan Chavez-Rojas (Tulsa Tech in Tulsa, Oklahoma)
• 2^nd place: “The Foxes”, by Eden Forsythe (Bozeman High School in Bozeman, Montana)
• 3^rd place: “Dunked”, by Luke Lehmann (Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida)
• Honorable Mention: “Senior’s Hour” by Landrie Hamilton (Tulsa Tech in Tulsa, Oklahoma)
• Honorable Mention: “Lonely Tree Spot GOTG” by Zachary Vik (Fountain-Fort Carson High School in Fort Carson, Colorado)

Amateur Award Winners

• 1^st place: “Honeybee in Salvia”, by Kristi Taylor (Powell, Wyoming)
• 2^nd place: “The Watcher”, by Lora Ginnetti (Cody, Wyoming)
• 3^rd place: “Peaceful Respite on the Atlantic” by Cyndy Jahn-Thomas (Powell, Wyoming)

Professional Award Winners

• 1^st place: “Elegance”, by Heather Cole (Powell, Wyoming)
• 2^nd place: “Up the B Gap”, by Jeff Codevilla, (Spearfish, South Dakota)
• 3^rd place: “Sam Abell is My Dark-Eyed Junco”, by Shane Epping (Laramie, Wyoming)

The exhibition brings together photography enthusiasts of all ages to celebrate the visual diversity the photographic world has to offer. The photographs will remain on display at Plaza Diane through Saturday, February 28.
