POWELL, WYOMING – Northwest College will celebrate International Education Week from November 17-21, with a series of events highlighting the College’s connection to the world at large. Most of the events are during the noon lunch hour or in the early evening and are free and open to the public. The Wednesday’s Around the World lunch on November 19 will cost the standard $9.98 for entry to the NWC Dining Hall, and tickets for the basketball games on November 21 are $3 for adults and $2 for students, with children 12 and under, Northwest College students, and seniors admitted free of charge.

- Monday, November 17, 2-3:00 p.m., What’s The Tea? – Honduras (NWC Student Center)
The Northwest College English as a Second Language class will host a friendly tea party celebrating conversation and culture. The students will share teas and light snacks from their country while practicing their English skills.
- Monday, November 17, 6 p.m., Sweet Traditions: An Italian Tiramisu Experience (Harriet Bloom-Wilson Intercultural House)
Join a Northwest College student for a short presentation and a live demo on how to make authentic Tiramisu and enjoy the creation afterward.
- Tuesday, November 18, Noon-1 p.m., Gaucho Traditions: Create Your Own Argentinian Poncho (Harriet Bloom-Wilson Intercultural House)
Discover the spirit of Argentina’s countryside in this creative workshop inspired by the gauchos — the traditional horsemen of the Pampas. Learn about their history and make your own Argentinian-style poncho to keep as a symbol of this unique cultural heritage.
- Wednesday, November 19, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Wednesdays Around the World – England (NWC Student Center Dining Hall)
NWC students from England will cook a traditional roast dinner to share a beloved part of British culture. Participants will enjoy good food, and a delicious glimpse of England’s comfort cuisine.
- Wednesday, November 19, 6 p.m., Cooking with the Seasons (Harriet Bloom-Wilson Intercultural House)
Japan has four seasons, and its people enjoy food by using seasonal ingredients. Experience the warmth of Japanese cuisine with a short lecture and home-cooked flavors. Participants will learn, taste, and connect at a warm winter table.
- Thursday, November 20, Noon-1 p.m., Flavors of Germany: Traditional Bread and Local Pairings (Harriet Bloom-Wilson Intercultural House)
Learn the art of baking traditional German bread and explore classic pairings of cheeses and meats. Enjoy hands-on learning, delicious flavors, and a fun introduction to Germany’s rich baking traditions.
- Friday, November 21, Noon-1 p.m., Soups from Around the World (Harriet Bloom-Wilson Intercultural House)
Enjoy a selection of soups from around the world, each representing the comfort, culture, and culinary traditions of some of our Northwest College students.
- Friday, November 21, 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Global Snacks and Basketball (Cabre Gym)
Celebrate International Education Week at the Northwest College women’s and men’s basketball games and enjoy snacks from around the world while cheering on the Trappers.
International Education Week celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.
