Nursing, EMS, & Allied Health Programs

EMT

Adventure Instagram Post

The EMT Program is offered at both the Basic and Advanced Level.  EMT is offered at 8 credit hours and AEMT is offered at 4 credit hours.  We now allow students to take BOTH courses in one semester, making their entry-level licensure an Advanced EMT.  The courses prepare students to work in a fast-paced setting as part of an emergency response team.  Students will learn the skills necessary to administer first aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured persons in pre-hospital settings, perform emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures, administer drugs, report patient condition to physicians and other medical staff, drive and maintain mobile intensive care units, and coordinate work with police and fire department personnel.  Taught in a blended format, the program has classroom lecture, lab and clinical experiences in the ER and on an ambulance.  Upon successful completion of the program, students will be prepared to sit for the National EMS and Wyoming EMS certification exam at the appropriate level (Basic or Advanced).

EMT and Advanced EMT are pre-requisites to application in our Paramedic program.
