A.L. Mickelson Field Station Low Course

Course Description

The DELTA Low Challenge Course is designed to take participants through a pre-determined set of activities that will challenge them as a group.  These activities progress through simple games to more complex initiative challenges that expose the strengths and weakness of the group.  Key topics such as communication, cooperation, leadership/followership, teamwork, trust, and more are addressed through activity design.  Debriefing following the activity, and program, allow the group to process what has happened and how to learn from the activities and transfer that learning back to their real world lives.

Debriefing the experience is the focal point of the activities.  The activities are used as tools, the processing allows the group to learn.  This process is designed to let participants learn from the program and transfer that learning back to school, work, and home.  The discussions are arranged to make the participants think critically about their successes and failures in an educational way, allowing the growth and learning to take place.
