P O W E L L, W y o. - The public is invited to an all-trombone-plus-tuba concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center on the Northwest College campus in Powell.

The concert culminates Trombone Day, an entire day of clinics and rehearsals for area trombone players. The evening's repertoire features selections taken from traditional trombone literature, including "The Calling," "Let There be Peace on Earth," "It is Well With my Soul" and several others.

This year, the Sheridan Tuba Ensemble will join the festival and command the stage for a few numbers like "Meadowlands," the "Liechtensteiner Polka" and more.

The Northwest and Big Horns trombones will break out to present their version of the "Augsburg Hymn," the first movement from "Great Lakes" and "Trojan Trombones." They'll join the tuba ensemble in Biebl's "Ave Maria."

Trombonists who haven't yet registered are encouraged to join the activities. The workshops provide learning opportunities for all ages on a variety of trombone subjects. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Interested trombonists can request music or get more information by e-mailing Rick Parmer or calling (307) 548-2647.

The entire day is free for both players and audience goers who take in the 7:30 p.m. concert.
