POWELL, Wyo. - Melinda F. Emerson, known as the SmallBizLady, will show small business owners how to get started in social media marketing Thursday, Sept. 15, in an early-morning session at Northwest College.

Emerson’s presentation, titled “Social Media Marketing 101,” will be held in Room 70 of the Fagerberg Building from 7:30-8:45 a.m., with time afterward for questions and networking.

She’ll cover the mind shift required to succeed in social media marketing, explaining that it’s not about the ROI (return on investment); it’s about the ROR (return on relationship). She’ll discuss the differences among social media applications, reveal a few social media selling secrets and walk through the process of launching a social media campaign.

Emerson will have a full day in Powell, fitting the Social Media Marketing 101 class in before her presentation at the Young Women’s Career Fair.

Highly sought after as a speaker, Emerson is one of America’s leading small business experts. She is an author and small business coach whose areas of expertise include small business start-up, business development and social media marketing. She publishes a resource blog and hosts a weekly talk show for emerging entrepreneurs on Twitter called #Smallbizchat.

Forbes Magazine named her one of the Top 20 Women for entrepreneurs to follow on Twitter. She’s also been featured on NBC Nightly News and in the Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fortune and Black Enterprise.

Her book, “Become Your Own Boss in 12 months: A Month-by-Month Guide to a Business that Works,” is a national best seller.

Cost for a seat in Social Media Marketing 101 is $35 and includes a continental breakfast. The first 25 registrants will receive a workbook valued at $20.
