Rose Cannon Elks Scholarship

Three representatives from the Powell Elks Lodge visited Northwest College recently to officially launch the Rose Cannon Elks Nursing Scholarship Endowment. Steve Thulin (l), exalted ruler, and Jack Crumrine (r), secretary, met with Delbert Cannon, trustee, and Shelby Wetzel, executive director of the Northwest College Foundation, to lay down plans for recognizing Rose Cannon and making new beginnings from a sad event. Delbert's wife, Rose, was a longtime Powell resident who succumbed to cancer earlier this spring. Proceeds from a June 1 Spaghetti Dinner and raffle helped the Elks to the half-way point in raising enough money for a $10,000 scholarship endowment. Future Elk activities are on the drawing board to complete the goal. Those who would like to help out and see their donation doubled, dollar-for-dollar, by the State of Wyoming in an endowment program, are encouraged to contact Steve Thulin at (307) 754-6038.
