P O W E L L,  W y o. - If the back-to-school bug has bitten you this fall, Northwest College can help scratch the itch with a $200 Reach Out Scholarship.

All Big Horn Basin residents who are GED, home school or high school graduates and didn't enroll in a Northwest College credit class during the 2008 spring and summer semesters are eligible for a $200 Reach Out Scholarship.

In order to receive the scholarship, students must enroll in any combination of one or more classes that add up to three credits. That's all it takes to get a cool $200, a sizable chunk off the cost of a three-credit class. In-state tuition and mandatory fees for a typical three-credit three class start at $252. Students are responsible for expenses above the scholarship amount. All classes that meet the scholarship's credit requirement are eligible, including those taken on-site, via the Internet and ITV (live interactive television).

The Reach Out Scholarship carries no minimum GPA requirement and cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship. All students who meet the scholarship criteria will receive a scholarship, but only if they complete a Reach Out Scholarship application form. The completed forms must be delivered or postmarked by Friday, Aug. 29. Applications received after that date will not be honored.

The first step in getting the scholarship is to select and register for one or more credit classes from the Fall Semester 2008 Class Schedule available online. Printed copies can be picked up at NWC centers in Cody and Worland, public libraries across the Big Horn Basin, and on campus in the Enrollment Services Office.

Registrations are accepted in person at the Enrollment Services Office on the Powell campus and at both the Cody and Worland centers. Registrations can also be called in to (307) 587-3376 in Cody, (307) 754-6149 in Powell and (307) 347-8541 in Worland. The toll-free registration number is (800) 570-4692, ext. 6149.

After registering for a class, the next step is to complete and submit a Fall Semester 2008 Reach Out Scholarship Form by following the instructions on the Reach Out Scholarship link. Forms are also available on campus and at the NWC Cody Center and Worland Center.
