POWELL, Wyoming ─ Area residents interested in providing input as Northwest College develops plans to renovate the Nelson Performing Arts Center (NPAC) are invited to a 6:00 p.m. public meeting Monday, Sept. 26, on campus.

The meeting is in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center on Seventh Street.

As part of the state’s level-one capital construction planning process, NWC selected MOA Architecture of Casper this spring to create an architectural plan for potential NPAC renovation in the future, according to Lisa Watson, NWC vice president for administrative services and finance.

"Monday’s meeting is an opportunity for interested area residents to provide input on various renovation alternatives for what is one of NWC’s most popular public spaces," Watson said. “We’re proceeding with initial architectural plans in order to meet state timelines and requirements for capital construction. Level-one planning is only the first step in what can be a multi-year process with the State of Wyoming. No funding options have been identified for the project at this time but will be developed as the project proceeds.”

The NPAC, which houses a 476-seat auditorium heavily used by the public, is one of the top two projects in the college’s Facilities Master Plan. Renovation plans are expected to allow the Art Department and Northwest Gallery, now located in the Cabre Building across campus, to be incorporated in the center along with the existing Music Department.
