Alison Coy of Powell (left) and Melinda Martin of Cody chaired book drives that sent close to 3,000 pounds of donated books to eager readers in Africa. Conducted during the 2007-08 academic year at Northwest College, the book drives were sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year college students. Donated books were sent to Better World Books to either be shipped directly to Africa or to be resold with proceeds going toward the purchase of other books. The fall campaign marked the most successful drive conducted yet at NWC and was recognized by the regional directors of Better World Books. Coy, as chair of the fall book drive, received a leadership award certificate for her efforts in making the drive such a success.
