NWC’s Johnson Fitness Center challenges community to a healthier holiday season

For many, the holidays are the most wonderful—but perhaps least heart-healthy—time of the year. That’s why Northwest College’s Johnson Fitness Center is challenging area residents to participate in the first annual “Project Zero,” a no weight gain challenge throughout the upcoming holiday season.

“I am really excited about Project Zero,” said Haley Sorenson, Johnson Fitness Center coordinator. “During a season filled with good food and even better company, it can be hard to end the season without a few extra pounds. This challenge is designed to encourage healthier eating, increase physical activity and reduce stress.”

All who wish to take part are encouraged to “maintain, don’t gain,” beginning Wednesday, Nov. 15. Those who accept the challenge will also receive exercise and nutrition tips and advice to avoid weight gain.

In addition, participants who do not gain will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes.
