POWELL, Wyo. - A concert of Christmas carols features an audience sing-along, four musical groups and seasonal favorites at a 7:30 p.m. concert Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.

“We’re excited to have guests to share this music with,” said Director of Bands Brad Howey. “This is a new venture for us in a new form. We’re hoping to get everybody in the spirit to sing along with us on some of the numbers.”

Instrumental highlights of the evening include the NWC Band’s performance of the Alfred Reed arrangement of “Greensleeves,” and the Northwest Civic Orchestra offerings of “Carol of the Bells,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Fantasia on Greensleeves,” “The Hallelujah Chorus” and “Stille Nacht.”

The Northwest Master Chorale and NWC Choir close the evening with an assortment of carols either written or arranged by John Rutter. Selections include “Silent Night,” “What Sweeter Music,” “Shepherds Pipe Carol,” “Jesus Child” and “Sans Day Carol.”

Conductors are Maurine Akin for the Northwest Civic Orchestra, Brad Howey for the College Band and Jan Kliewer for the combined College Choir and Master Chorale.

Admission to the concert is free.
