POWELL, Wyo. - Larry Medicine Bull, the Buffalo Feast speaker who had to cancel in November 2012, will come to the Northwest College campus Thursday, Feb. 28, to do a water drum demonstration and share other Northern Cheyenne traditions.

He’ll speak at 7 p.m. in Room 70 of the Fagerberg Building.

One of the chiefs on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer, Mont., Medicine Bull will talk about ceremonies, mixing his personal style of humor into his short stories. He’ll demonstrate the sounds of the water drum and share the hand game, a gambling contest between opposing teams accompanied by drumming and singing.

Medicine Bull teaches American Indian Culture and Government and Cheyenne language at Lame Deer High School and has served as commissioner on the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Housing Authority.

His appearance in Powell is sponsored by the NWC Native Ways club.

Admission is free.
