The Northwest College men’s basketball team went toe-to-toe with the best team in its league but could not pull off an upset, falling 89-83 to Sheridan College (29-2) Saturday in its first round Region IX playoff game.

With a win in the heavyweight title match of the Rocky Mountain District Tournament earlier this month, Northwest College wrestler Daniel Jordan found himself the top-seeded Trapper heading into this weekend’s NJCAA National Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Lady Trappers Shine In Regular Season Finale
In the first half of play Saturday, Selena Cudney scored a quiet eight points, giving no indication she was ready for a breakout game for the Northwest College women’s basketball team. Cudney scored another eight points in the second half, then exploded for nine points in overtime to help the Lady Trappers take down Western Wyoming, 86-82 at home.

Looking to end a prolonged winless streak, the Northwest College men’s basketball team had its work cut out for them last week; the Trappers dropped a pair of home games to Sheridan and Western Wyoming to end a frustrating regular season with nine straight losses.

Lady Trappers Win On Road, Stumble At Home
After six weeks of close and not-so-close contests, the Northwest College women’s basketball team finally shed the monkey on its back. The Lady Trappers won their first conference game of the season last week at Central Wyoming, 68-66.
