Emblem is an agricultural community which resulted from two of the first
efforts at irrigating land in the Big Horn Basin.
Emblem was founded in the 1896 when Solon Wiley' Big Horn Basin Development Company brought irrigation to the Emblem Bench.
Emblem was settled almost exclusively by German Lutheran, who named
the town Germania. Anti-German sentiment during World War I caused them
to change the name to Emblem.
