PSEO FAQs

How much does PSEO cost?

The State of Minnesota pays for the cost of tuition and materials for qualified Minnesota high school juniors and seniors, so there is no cost to the student.

Can homeschooled students participate?

Yes! Northwestern understands the needs of homeschooled learners and will help guide you through the process. Nearly 50 percent of our PSEO students are homeschooled and approximately 10 percent of Northwestern's traditional undergraduate students have been homeschooled.

Do I need to attend class on campus?

No. Northwestern College PSEO courses are offered through a convenient online format which allows you to complete your work in a home or school setting that best fits your schedule.

Are there tutors or study groups available?

There are a few study groups in the Twin Cities area listed below. These groups are independent and not affiliated with Northwestern College. You may check with a school counselor or homeschool cooperative to see if there are other groups or resources in your area.

PSEO Study Groups

CHAT—Christian Homeschool Academy of Tutoring—offers classes to enhance PSEO classes offered by Northwestern College. More information is available on the CHAT website.

H.E.R.O.—Home Educators Resource Organization—offers study classes for students participating in the Northwestern College PSEO program. More information is available on the H.E.R.O. website.

YEAH—Youth Educated at Home—holds group classes for some Northwestern PSEO courses. More information is available on the YEAH website.

Will the courses qualify for full college credit?

When you complete your course, full college credit will be applied to your academic record at Northwestern College. These credits may be used to complete a degree at Northwestern or transferred to another educational institution. We encourage you to check the requirements of the program and school where further study is planned before selecting your PSEO courses.

Which courses does Northwestern College recommend for college-bound high school students?

• 4 years of English
• 3 years of Math
• 3 years of Natural Science
• 3 years of Social Science
• 2 years of foreign language and/or other general electives
