Intercultural Studies MajorLearn about and meet the people of God’s creation in a way you’ve never seen before. The Intercultural Studies major is designed to prepare and stretch students to learn and understand more about different cultural, ethnic and religious groups and equip you to reach the nations and make disciples. Your vision of what God is doing in the world will expand as you learn from seasoned intercultural leaders who have spent much of their lives living and working in other countries. And you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience doing cross-cultural work right here in the diverse communities of Minnesota and abroad. Intercultural Studies InternshipOne of the distinguishing requirements of the Intercultural Studies degree is participating on the Intercultural Studies Internship. The ICS internship is typically an 8-week overseas experience led by a Northwestern professor and includes visiting several countries, learning about and interacting with a variety of cultures and religious groups. Past groups have visited China, Thailand and SE Asia, the Pacific Rim, Europe and Africa. The goal of the internship is to give students real exposure to global missions. The ICS Internship typically travels every fall, from mid-October to mid-December. The first half of the semester is spent in a Preparation Workshop and other courses that help students get ready for what they are about to experience. >> Visit the Department of Christian Ministries>> Degree RequirementsStudents Speak“Learning to see through a multicultural lens is not something that happens over night. I have been pushed and stretched to see things in new ways and I am so thankful for that! Not only have I been culturally stretched, but I have grown so much in my spiritual life from the encouragement of my professors and peers. I am a much more rounded Christian and ready to apply what I have learned in the field since attending Northwestern.” Megan – Fairborn, Ohio What classes will I take?
