Credit by Examination

Credit for selected courses may be secured by students who demonstrate competency by means of scores on standardized examinations such as Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DSST, and International Baccalaureate (IB), or, in the case of BIB1001 Old Testament History and Literature, BIB1002 New Testament History and Literature, and MTC1000 Music Theory Fundamentals, by locally-prepared examinations.

Contact the Registrar's Office or Graduate & Continuing Education to learn the maximum number of credits allowed for standardized examinations. Students may not take a lower-level CLEP or DSST examination in an area in which they have completed a higher-level course. Credits may not be earned through CLEP or DSST examinations whose content duplicates credit previously earned.

DSST exams are offered in an on-line format by appointment on campus—learn more.
