The mission of Campus Ministries is to cultivate an environment for Christian growth that challenges all students to pursue maturity in Christ through comprehensive, complementary activities, all under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the authority of the Bible.
This mission is accomplished through the means of five main areas: chapel, outreach, missions, discipleship, and praise and worship.
Outreach
Students at Northwestern are encouraged to be ministers of Christ in the local community. There are various opportunities for involvement in student-led outreach teams. Some teams minister in the inner-city, in coffee-house and street evangelism, with pro-life groups and in homeless shelters. There are many outreach opportunities for individuals throughout the Twin Cities.
The Campus Ministries office can assist students in finding service opportunities in churches or volunteer organizations. The office can also help students facilitate the start-up of new ministries.
Northwestern provides a variety of small groups where students can encourage and build up one another in their faith. There are numerous Bible studies organized in the residence halls or through other offices on campus. More information about specific studies will be available throughout the academic year.
training in service
"I love the Day of Prayer & Service. I think it is a great way to actually serve people and reach out as a college community. I also love going to Feed My Starving Children with my hall and brother/sister halls. It is awesome and I look forward to another trip." Jamie – Indianapolis, Ind.
