Leadership Advance ConferenceTo assist Northwestern’s mission to equip students to give God-honoring leadership in all areas of life, the Office of Student Development hosts the Leadership Advance Conference each semester. What began in 1990 with 30 students, has now reached more than 200 students participating each semester. Conference goals include:- casting a vision for biblical/servant leadership
- challenging students' understanding of leadership
- helping assess individual leadership abilities
- providing students with tools for effective leadership
On-Campus Leadership OpportunitiesLeadership opportunities at Northwestern abound! There are more than 30 clubs, student organizations and extracurricular activities in which to get involved. There is something for everyone, whether that be athletics, media communications, performing arts, spiritual growth and ministry, student government and more. We believe being involved in leadership complements academics and enhances a student's college experience. To assist students in connecting with a leadership opportunity, each year, the Office of Student Development distributes the Passport to Leadership. This passport is designed to enable students to consider the various places to invest their gifts, abilities and strengths within the Northwestern community. Leadership LoungeThe Leadership Lounge Series provides an opportunity for students to interact with established, well-known leaders from a variety of organizations on the topic of leadership. Past speakers have included John Fischer, senior writer at PurposeDrivenLife.com and Brenda Bertrand, speaker and mentor. This free event is open to all students. |
