What’s the most important thing you’ve learned from NWC?

The importance of community and authenticity.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to move back to New York and get a job as an event coordinator or community relations director with a nonprofit organization. I love public speaking, event planning, writing, broadcasting— anything having to do with communications.

How, specifically, has NWC prepared you for your future?

Workshops, such as Radio, Forensics, Video, gave me hands-on experience that is necessary to become skilled in the field of communications. More importantly, though, Northwestern has provided so many great Bible classes and such a faith-based education that has let me "work out my salvation."

Who is your most influential professor and why?

Dr. Ripley Smith [former professor of communication] always challenged me to do my best. His passion and skill, as well as his love for Christ, have influenced me tremendously.

What is something you’ll always remember about NWC?

I’ll always remember walking to class, smiling and saying "hi" to students and professors, whether I knew them or not, and then coming back to the dorms and hearing conversations between students about what they have been learning in their Bible classes and what God has been doing in their lives.

How have you, as a person, seen yourself change over the years at NWC?

I had to establish myself as my own person apart from my family and friends back home in New York. Through the nurturing community here at Northwestern, I have become more confident in who I am in Christ; I have made my faith my own, and have fallen even more deeply in love with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
