Northwestern awards scholarships to two Ecuadorian students
Students began education at Christian Center for Communications, a NWC degree site in Quito
Northwestern College recently awarded scholarships to Maria Isabel Bajana and Carolina Bermudez, both from the Northwestern College Christian Center for Communications (CCC), a degree site in Quito, Ecuador. Bajana, of Quito, and Bermudez, of Mitad Del Mundo, will live in a residence hall on the St. Paul campus and begin courses this fall.
Over the course of 2010–11 school year, Bajana and Bermudez will both pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media Communication (broadcast focus) and plan to graduate in May 2011.
Bermudez believes that her studies are important and hopes to work in her community after graduation, “In my country, and the rest of Latin America, people need communications,” she noted. “God has put dreams into my heart and I believe the [Northwestern] scholarship is another door opened.”
The Northwestern CCC was established in 2001 in cooperation with HCJB Global and offers a three-year program with an Associate degree in Applied Science and Bible with a specialization in Electronic Media Communication. This program was designed to equip Latin American students for effective ministry and work in the electronic media and journalism fields.
Northwestern continues to develop global education and has welcomed a dozen students from the Northwestern CCC to complete their bachelor degrees on campus.
