KTIS / Northwestern Media applauded at FCC hearings in Washington, D.C.
Harv Hendrickson, Vice President for Broadcast Operations, attended a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) hearing on noncommercial media in Washington, D.C. on Friday, April 30. Hendrickson has been working closely with National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) to attempt to bring about FCC policy changes regarding underwriting and fundraising for non-commercial media, and a number of KTIS / Northwestern Media initiatives were held up as exemplary examples of how to serve communities without resorting to further government regulation. The General Counsel for NRB punctuated a proactive approach to meeting community needs, and called out Northwestern Media as a stand-out example.
“We don’t yet know what kind of impact this information made on the FCC commissioners,” says Paul Virts, Senior Vice President for Media and acting station manager for 98.5 KTIS, “but it’s been a blessing to be able to have the efforts of Northwestern Media acknowledged on a national level.”
