A History of Northwestern College Learn how Northwestern began in 1902 as a Bible and Missionary Training School with seven students in Minneapolis and grew to become a fully accredited Christian liberal arts college in St. Paul with more than 3,000 students.    Getty Grant for the Preservation of Campus Heritage In 2004, the Getty Foundation awarded Northwestern College a generous Campus Heritage Grant, which enabled the college to compile and share the research on its historic buildings, as well as develop a preservation plan to preserve these buildings for future generations.
