July 19—The Faith Radio Network,a network of talk and teaching stations owned by Northwestern College and Northwestern Media, welcomes psychologist, author, and broadcaster Dr. Bill Maier. Maier hosts a new weekly interactive two-hour program, “Dr. Bill Maier Live,” each Saturday from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. that features nationally-known guests, insightful commentary, and live listener calls on a wide range of topics.
The program specifically focuses on how Christian faith and family life intersect with contemporary culture. “Christian families face a multitude of challenges today,” said Maier. “My prayer is that this new program on Faith Radio will educate and inspire our listeners, as well as offer practical, biblically-based family advice.”
Faith Radio listeners may be familiar with Maier from his many years with Focus on the Family. He continues to host the “Family Minute” radio program for the ministry, as well as the “Family Insights” television feature, which airs during local TV newscasts across the country.
Maier is a licensed psychologist and has served at respected institutions such as Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Camarillo State Hospital and the Long Beach Child Guidance Center. He has extensive experience in parent training and education, and his major area of research interest is the impact of cultural trends on child development and family functioning. He has written for several prominent newspapers and magazines and co-authored the book Marriage on Trial: The Case Against Same-Sex Marriage and Parenting. Maier has also done media interviews for CNBC-TV, Fox News Channel, CNN, and ABC's World News Tonight.
In addition to Maier’s new program, Faith Radio continues to build a growing virtual community via the station’s website. A variety of Faith Radio contributors including on-air personality Susie Larson and KARE 11 Meteorologist Jerrid Sebesta, write on various topics such as faith and life, finances, relationships, health and fitness, and parenting.
Faith Radio includes stations in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Duluth-Superior, Fargo-Moorhead, Sioux Falls, Waterloo-Cedar Falls, and Madison.
