For five years Northwestern College has been a significant contender in the annual Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters (iNRB ) student awards competition, and 2008 was no exception. In all, five Northwestern students won seven awards (see sidebar) and NWC’s student radio station—WVOE—was the first winner of a new competition for Station of the Year.
Award winner Timothy Ingold ’09 is thankful for the opportunities Northwestern has provided for him to learn and grow through real-world experiences. "I know that my professors have done their best to inform us of their experience in the workplace and how it works."
Associate Professor of Communication Mark Seignious is excited for the opportunities broadcasting students have to showcase their God-given talents. "We don’t try to do ‘excellent radio.’ We do try to be faithful and obedient—to seek God’s approval, not man’s. He has seen favor on our work and allowed it to be recognized as good."
The students received their awards on Feb. 6 at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB ) annual convention in Nashville, Tenn.
