College Choir invited to perform at College Music Society National Conference

Sept. 21— Northwestern College Director of Choral Activities Timothy Sawyer, leads the College Choir in a performance by invitation of the College Music Society (CMS) on:

Friday, September 24 at 8 p.m.
St. Olaf Catholic Church
215 South 8th Street
Minneapolis, MN 55402

The program is free and open to the public, and features new choral music by CMS composers (who will be in attendance at the concert). The concert also features the National Lutheran Choir, Magnum Chorum, Kantorei, The Singers, Oratorio Society of Minnesota, and choirs from the University of Minnesota, Concordia University, and the University of Oklahoma.

The CMS National Conference attracts college and university administrators, graduate students, independent scholars, composers, publishers, and music business personnel who share a common interest and dedication to the improvement of music and its relationship to the other academic disciplines of higher education.

The Northwestern College Choir is among the leading college choirs in the Midwestern United States, enjoying a rich history of performing primarily sacred a cappella music of all stylistic eras, hymns and spirituals, and regularly presenting major choral-orchestral works by Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Beethoven and others. The choir has toured extensively throughout the United States, and in Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain and Canada.
