Workshop Speaker FAQs

Will I be paid for speaking?

Workshop speakers are paid an honorarium; the amount of which is determined at the time the contract is signed.

What is the conference schedule? How many workshops will I present during the conference?

The schedule for each day of the conference is as follows:

8:00–9:45 a.m.Worship and Keynote Speaker
10:00–11:00 a.m.Workshop 1
11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.Workshop 2 or Lunch A
12:30–1:30 p.m.Workshop 3 or Lunch B
1:45–2:45 p.m.Workshop 4
3:00–4:30 p.m.Worship, keynote speaker, closing activities and announcements

 

Typically, the workshop you are presenting will be offered during three of the four one-hour workshop sessions each day. Depending on your topic, the number of workshops presented each day may be flexible.

Can I provide a handout for the women attending the conference?

The women attending the conference generally appreciate receiving handouts from the workshops they attend. If you will be providing a handout for those who attend your workshop, please submit it to us, as an email attachment, one week prior to the conference. The Set Apart Conference will copy up to two pages front and back and have them ready to go at the conference.

As a workshop presenter can I sell my books or advertise my business during my workshop?

Workshops should not be used to promote product or particular businesses. Product sales are not allowed in workshops. Any mention of available product or business resources should be a brief mention, less than 30 seconds. Workshop presenters that have written books or have product that they would like to make available to attendees should work through the Set Apart Workshop Coordinator to either consign these items with our designated Set Apart vendor or work with the chosen vendor to provide the items for sale.

Why do you ask for a book list?

Set Apart works with a vendor who may be able to offer books for sale at the conference that you refer to as a resource in your workshop. We offer this as a help to our attendees by making valuable resources available to them. It is not necessary to give us a list of books, but we like to make the option available. If you desire, please provide us with the book title, author and publisher (if possible). When you email in your request for books and materials please also include how you plan to reference these items in your workshop - verbal recommendation, written page of references, if it will be a strong recommendation or just a mention, etc.- so the vendor has an idea of how many to order.

As a workshop presenter, can I bring someone to help me during the day?

A host or hostess will be provided for your workshop. However, if you do bring someone to help, please let us know so lunch can be provided for them. If they will be attending any of the conference other than your workshop, they will need to purchase a conference ticket. Please let us know, as a reduced rate will be offered.

Why is a photo needed of the workshop presenters?

A picture of each workshop presenter will be included on the conference website. Please provide us with a digital photo of yourself. It can be any size, but should be a single head shot of you with a plain background, preferably white or light colored.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch will be provided for each workshop presenter during their open session. If you have specific dietary needs, please let us know.

Will there be reserved parking for the workshop presenters?

Yes, on each day of the conference there will be a space reserved for each workshop speaker. The reserved spaces are located in the parking lot behind the Totino Fine Arts building. The reserved spaces will be marked with a sign with the speaker’s name on it. Please only park in your reserved space.

Why are the workshops recorded?

We generally record all workshops once and sell the recordings to the women attending the conference. All proceeds from the sale of the recordings go to the Set Apart scholarship fund.

What is the Workshop Leaders Orientation Meeting?

An orientation to the conference for workshop leaders will be held in the Totino Fine Arts Building, room F2211 at 8 a.m. In this meeting we will ask you to sign any necessary forms, give you information about lunch, connect you to the host or hostess for your workshop and give any appropriate announcements, and pray together for the women in attendence. It will be finished by 8:20 a.m. at which time you can either proceed to your classroom or enjoy the worship and speaker in Maranatha Hall.
