From February 29 to March 9, 7 Electronic Media Communication majors, 4 faculty and 14 KTIS listeners and staff traveled to Belize for 10 days to provide insight into the culture and the mission of Christian radio to Belizean citizens. They hosted a 3-day seminar that included classes, workshops and hands-on software and technology training. The EMC students also took on the role of consultants to the Belizean Christian radio and TV personnel through the seminar, helping them create content, examining the radio and TV stations' conditions and recommending areas for growth.
The theatre program has never let the audience down by selecting a mundane, stale piece, and this spring is no different. With a 9-character cast, Dr. Don "Doc" Rainbow directed Anatomy of Gray, a beautiful story about love, loss and hope. The show took place in the Patsy Miller Studio Theatre April 11-14.
Northwestern College students proudly made their presence known in the communication world when the results of the Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters were announced last week. The iNRB awarded NWC students half of the available first place awards, including first place in both the long and short film categories and three out of the four first place audio awards.
3 teams of students from Northwestern's Electronic Media Communication program competed in a media production competition at the recent National Religious Broadcasters convention in Nashville. The 36.DA and 36.DV Challenges pit teams of students from Christian colleges around the country against one another in a 36-hour race to create pieces centered on a predetermined theme. The students spent their day and a half rapidly writing, recording and editing their projects to be evaluated by a panel of judges.
