The International Business major is designed to prepare students for careers in multinational corporations. Studies in business foundations and cross-cultural courses are the beginnings of preparation for international business. The degree is granted upon completion of 147–153 credits as specified in the catalog (40 credits must be in 3000- or 4000-level courses).
What will I study?
As an international business major, you will study broad areas of business including a survey of the complexities, challenges, and opportunities of engaging in international business, including consideration of entry strategies and MNC operations. You will have the chance to learn a foreign language and the option of a supervised internship experience in China or another foreign country. Study abroad is highly recommended.
Many international business classes take a case study approach utilizing small groups and discussion. The approach is interactive, requiring students to take responsibility for investigating aspects of the class. International business students are regularly exposed to interesting resources, literature and business professionals in the field. The department keeps up with current trends and advancements in international business while maintaining its roots in more traditional areas, allowing for a well-rounded education.
