Why did you choose Northwestern?
The main reason I chose Northwestern was because it offered Chinese Language classes. I wanted to go to a college where I could learn Mandarin Chinese, and when I found out that NWC offered it, I was in. Once I realized I wanted to go to NWC, I wanted more so to come because of the Christ-centered education every student is offered.
How did you decide on your major?
I always knew that I wanted to be a business major. I think it may have been my parents' influence because my mom was a finance major and my dad was an economics major. I was looking towards getting a degree in mathematics, but I just liked the business world too much.
Why is Northwestern a good place to study business?
I believe that NWC is a great place to study business because many companies know how much the students have integrity. The professors incorporate Christ into many lessons. It is not just about being the best business person; they teach us how to be a strong Christian in the business world.
How have you changed as a student at NWC?
I have seen myself grow into who God made me to be. At first I had a hard time adjusting to being on my own and not being in the same place that I had been for 18 years. I have also grown in who I am in God. The more I have tried on my own to find who I am, did not help me at all. It was when I began to see myself through God’s eyes that I truly found out and am happy with how he made me.
What did you do in high school to prepare for college?
All throughout high school, I pushed myself in everything I did. I always got my work done ahead of time. I think that this has really helped me in college because I cannot function by waiting until the last minute to do an assignment. By getting my stuff done ahead of time, I am not as stressed out. I believe that by being so driven in high school, I have been better able to handle my work and other responsibilities at the college level.
What do you value most about NWC?
I just love that the school tries to be more Christ focused. When the leaders at Northwestern realize that they have done or said something wrong, they get up and admit it. I think that because the leaders have honesty and integrity, it gets passed on to the students. I like the drive that the professors pass on to the students.
What would you like to do when you graduate from Northwestern?
I am hoping that I will someday be able to work in China either in a big corporation or as a banker at an international bank. I am not sure right now where I will be, but I know that God has a plan and He will take me through it.
