Luke Aleckson

Luke Aleckson joined Northwestern in 2007 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he was an instructor of sculpture. Aleckson is the director of the Denler Art Gallery and an assistant professor in the Department of Art & Design. In addition to his experience in the academic sphere, he has spent time in the private sector as a graphic artist, web designer and web community developer.

He maintains an active art practice. His work has recently been exhibited in venues such as the Chicago Cultural Center, IL; the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago, IL; and Spaces Gallery in Cleveland, OH. He is a 2007 recipient of the Illinois Arts Council Artists Fellowship Award, a 2006 recipient of the MFA Fellowship Award, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and in 2005 received the Harvey Fellowship in Art.

He and his wife Elizabeth live in Minneapolis.
