The Culture & Language Transition program (CLT) is an academic support program for students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds. The CLT program seeks to introduce and acclimate students to the academic rigor and/or cultural adjustments that occur when coming into higher education. Students can take GST1025 Contemporary Cultures in the U.S. for 0–1 credit.
Who should enter the CLT program?
The CLT program is recommended for the student:
Whose primary language is not English
Who is from an international setting
Who has parents who are missionaries
Who has other transitional needs

The CLT model uses creative interventions that put students on track. The CLT program enhances the academic experience of Northwestern College students by:
Closing gaps in educational development
Providing a series of services, as faculty and staff collaborate to provide assistance
Mentoring students through the cultural transition into the role of student at Northwestern College
Accelerating and practicing written and conversational English
