POWELL, Wyo. - Northwest College seeks public comments in preparation for a November evaluation by its regional accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

NWC will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit November 15-17, 2010, by a team representing the HLC.

“The team will review NWC’s ongoing ability to meet the HLC’s accreditation criteria,” said longtime NWC faculty member Duane Fish, who chairs the college’s Accreditation Executive Committee. “It takes years and an incredible amount of energy for a college to fully examine and evaluate itself before it can present its findings to an accreditation agency. Public comment about how well NWC serves area residents is essential.”

Comments regarding Northwest College should be sent to Public Comment on Northwest College, the Higher Learning Commission, 30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602.  Click here for more information on the commission.

According to HLC guidelines, comments must address “substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs.” HLC guidelines require comments to be in writing and signed; comments cannot be treated as confidential.
