Jazz Showcase highlights vocal and instrumental performances on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at NWC

POWELL, Wyo. — The Northwest College Jazz Band and Studio Singers will present their annual Jazz Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center. This performance will highlight much of the music performed by these groups on their recent tour of Southwest Wyoming.

The Studio Singers, directed by Craig Olson, offer a lineup featuring several numbers including “This Can’t Be Love” by Rogers and Hart, “Dream with the Angels” by Michelle Weir and “Splanky” by Neal Hefti.

The Northwest Jazz Band I, directed by Neil Hansen, will offer up “Hullabaloo,” a New Orleans style composition by Alan Baylock, “The Way I Feel About You” by Doc Severinsen and Tommy Newsom, and “Gaining on You” by Gordon Goodwin.

The concert will close with the Studio Singers joining the Jazz Band on Louis Prima’s famous swing tune “Jump, Jive and Wail.”

Admission is free.
