P O W E L L, W y o. - A college class experience can signal a fresh start and a whole new outlook for many people. Northwest College wants to help Big Horn Basin residents get that "fresh start" this fall with the $200 Reach Out Scholarship.

All Big Horn Basin residents who are GED, home school or high school graduates and didn't enroll in a Northwest College credit class during the 2007 spring or summer semesters are eligible for a $200 Reach Out Scholarship.

In order to receive the scholarship, students must enroll in any combination of one or more classes that add up to three credits. That's all it takes to get a cool $200, a sizable chunk from the cost of a three-credit class. In-state tuition and mandatory fees for three credits taken on the Powell campus is $243, plus books and possible course fees, depending on the class. Off campus, the cost is $216, plus books and course fees (if applicable). Students are responsible for expenses above the scholarship amount. All classes that meet the scholarship's credit requirement are eligible, including those taken on-site, via the Internet and ITV (live interactive television).

The Reach Out Scholarship carries no minimum GPA requirement. It cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship. All students who meet the scholarship criteria mentioned here will receive a scholarship, but only if they complete a Reach Out Scholarship application form. The completed forms must be delivered or postmarked by Wednesday, Sept. 5. Applications received after that date will not be honored.

The first step in getting the scholarship is to select and register for one or more credit classes from the Fall Semester 2007 Class Schedule available online at www.northwestcollege.edu/fall. Printed copies can be picked up at NWC centers in Cody and Worland, public libraries across the Big Horn Basin, and on campus in the Enrollment Services Office.

The next step is to print out a Fall Semester 2007 Reach Out Scholarship Form by following the Reach Out Scholarship link at www.northwestcollege.edu/Schol. Mail the completed form to Reach Out Scholarship, Northwest College, 231 W. 6th St., Powell, WY 82435-1895. Forms are also available on campus and at the NWC Cody Center and Worland Center.
