P O W E L L,  W y o. - Certified public accountant Lynne Whitmore will show how to master QuickBooks financial management software in four evening classes Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 11-20, in Powell.

Sponsored through the Northwest College Center for Training and Development (CTD), the classes meet from 6-9 p.m. at the CTD on the West Campus in Powell.

Whitmore will start with a back-to-basics review of concepts that covers the chart of accounts, cash verses accrual, bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable and the changing forms of business entities.

The course then focuses on how to quickly and easily manage basic tasks like printing checks, paying bills, generating reports, invoicing customers and tracking expenses. Organizing information is the next topic, with the goal of making it easy to find information about your company, customers and vendors when you need it.

Whitmore will also show participants how to create a professional look with customized invoices, sales receipts and other business forms, and how to make tax preparation less painful by using QuickBooks to work more effectively with an accounting professional.

Whitmore encourages participants to bring their real bookkeeping and financial business questions to class for hands-on learning and problem solving. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Wyoming and University of Montana, respectively, and has been a popular instructor at the NWC Center for Training and Development.

Cost for the class is $125 and includes a comprehensive manual.
