NWC Foundation's executive director called to national leadership role

POWELL, Wyoming — The growth and success of the Northwest College Foundation has landed its executive director, Shelby Wetzel, a national leadership role with the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

Wetzel’s nomination to sit on the CASE Center for Community College Advancement Advisory Committee spurred a unanimous vote.

Although her term doesn’t officially begin until July 1, she was asked to attend and contribute at an April 22 meeting in New Orleans in conjunction with the CASE Conference for Institutionally Related Foundations.

CASE is a professional association serving educational institutions and the advancement professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.

As a member of the CASE Center for Community College Advancement Advisory Committee, Wetzel will monitor trends and best practices in college advancement initiatives while identifying learning opportunities and professional development needs for community college advancement professionals.

Since taking the helm of the NWC Foundation in February 2000, Wetzel has been the driving force behind a growth in assets from $7.8 million to more than $35 million. Included in that is a successful endowment campaign that has netted $21.5 million to date.

Last year, the NWC Foundation was ranked 43rd in total assets out of 850 community college foundations across the nation, based on 2012 financial statements.
