15th Annual Brass Festival Saturday, Sept. 16, at Northwest College

Brass musicians of all ages throughout the Big Horn Basin are gearing up for Northwest College’s 15th annual Brass Festival Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center auditorium.

“Now in its 15th year, the Brass Festival is a unique opportunity for brass musicians—high school to old school—to share their love of brass playing with each other in music making and to be inspired by our professional clinicians,” Robert Rumbolz, NWC associate professor of music, says.

This free one-day opportunity includes clinics, master classes, music displays, trumpet and low brass ensembles, a French horn ensemble, plus a mixed brass ensemble comprised of festival participants.

An additional highlight of this event includes workshops led by three award-winning guest artists: Amy Laursen, adjunct professor of music at the University of South Dakota; Micah Everett, associate professor of music at the University of Mississippi; and Andrew Mrozinsky, adjunct professor of music at Laramie County Community College. The festival commences with a 10 a.m. warmup session featuring guest artists.

Admission is free for all high school, college and adult trumpet, trombone, French horn, baritone/euphonium and tuba players. The festival closes with a 7 p.m. concert featuring guest artists and groups formed by festival participants.
