Yellowstone Fire Soccer's Rob Hill returns to Cody to teach two coaching clinics

POWELL, Wyoming — The man who kicked Cody soccer into a state powerhouse program is returning to teach the fundamentals of the game to coaches and parents in a two-part clinic.

Rob Hill was recruited from the United Kingdom in 2000 as director of coaching for Cody’s upstart Yellowstone Fire soccer program. He eventually coached the high school team as well, earning seven state championships between the two programs, one at every level he coached.

Now at Northwest College, Hill will conduct free coaching clinics from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Mar. 17 and 24 at Eastside School in Cody. In addition to the clinic instruction, he’ll provide follow-up opportunities to coaches who seek further guidance and advice.

Hill said he and a few of his NWC athletes plan to work with coaches and parents of all age players, from U8 to high school. Yellowstone Fire Soccer Club players will assist with the training, according to Hill.

“We’ll cover the fundamental skills that help a player to become a complete player,” Hill said. “All the technical skills and basic tactics. We’ll also look at the big picture, giving them a look at the tools that will allow their players to get noticed by college programs.”

The clinics are free of charge.
