April 22 program by Fulbright scholar looks at the role of women in Islam

POWELL, Wyo. - Issa Ziddy, a visiting Fulbright scholar at Northwest College, will discuss "Tanzania and the Role of Muslim Women" at a 7 p.m. presentation Wednesday, April 22, in Room 70 of the Fagerberg Building at NWC.

Ziddy is a senior lecturer at the State University of Zanzibar in Tanzania. He is on the Northwest College campus during the month of April through the Fulbright Visiting Specialist Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World.

His presentation will incorporate photos and information about Tanzania, touching on its history, economy, education, culture and other issues. He'll also talk about the country's religion and the role of women in Islam. Ziddy will focus on the different roles of Muslim women as they relate to education, work, marriage, divorce, travel, politics, leadership and other life choices.

His program is free and open to the public.
