POWELL, Wyo. - Commercial photographer Bobbi Lane will be in Powell Friday-Monday, April 15-18 to talk about her work and share her techniques in a variety of venues at Northwest College.

She’s featured first in “An Evening with the Artist” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium. Lane will show many of her images as she talks about her life in photography and her beliefs about portraiture.

She’ll offer hands-on advice in several free workshops from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, April 18. These sessions will be presented during NWC photography classes, but anyone interested in photography is invited to attend. Report to Room 41 in the Fagerberg Building Monday for directions and information about the workshops.

While she’s in Powell, Lane will also work with area high school photography students in closed workshops.

Lane is a commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits, travel shoots, and stock photography. She’s based in Fairfield County, Conn., but her work takes her around the world. Lane’s trip to Powell is on the heels of an 18-day stint in Dubai.

Her multi-faceted approach to photography incorporates over 25 years of technical experience with innovative artistic interpretation. She primarily shoots environmental portraits of people on location for corporate and advertising accounts, and photographs "real people" and travel for stock. Her stock photography has sold worldwide for ads, posters and billboards.

Lane’s client list includes Warner Bros., PricewaterhouseCoopers, Samsung, Bose Corp., Neutrogena, Ricon, Mattel, Sears' Tower Skydeck and the Morro Bay Natural History Museum.

She’s also been a regular contributing photographer to Ridgefield and Bedford Magazines. Her fine art has been exhibited at Pow Wows and on Sensual Flowers in Los Angeles, New York City and Ridgefield, Conn.

Lane has won awards for both her commercial work and fine-art photography in regional and national competitions.

She teaches regularly on a regional, national, and international level, blending a straight-forward teaching style with techniques to stimulate creative thinking. She works with students on all skill levels.

Lane teaches for some of the leading photographic educational centers around the country, including the Santa Fe Workshops, Maine Workshops, Julia Dean Workshops, and is a faculty member at the International Center of Photography in New York City. She holds workshops at Gulf Photo Plus in Dubai twice a year. She is also a contributing editor to Photo Techniques magazine, and has written many articles on lighting, portraits and color for the publication.

Lane’s presentations in Powell are sponsored by the Northwest College Photography Department.
