POWELL, Wyo. - The Big Horn Basin is invited to join a Northwest College theatre troupe that will launch Tuesday, Oct. 1, at a 6:30 p.m. organizational meeting in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium in Powell.

Called the Wild West Players, the group will support and advance all aspects of theater — from improvisational, musical, interpretive, puppetry, clowning, children’s theater and acrobatics to the technical side of properties, costuming, lighting, scenery, directing and everything in between.

“Everyone of all ages with any kind of interest in performance is invited to join us,” Fred Ebert, organizer, said. “Our plan is to develop theatrical events with the potential of touring around the Big Horn Basin and beyond.”

Ebert said the Wild West Players’ goal is to collaborate with established local community theater groups to become the keystone for theater in the larger Big Horn Basin community.

His intention is for the entire group to meet regularly and for members to break into specific interest/project groups.

“There is no cost to belong,” Ebert said, “but there will be great opportunities to learn and to put into play your passion for theater, in whatever form it takes. Optional college credit is also available to those who are interested.”

The Wild West Players will present their first performances the second week in December.
