The 29th annual Yellowstone Summer Music Camp (YSMC) for middle and high school band and choir musicians gets underway with afternoon registration Sunday, June 16, and ends Friday afternoon, June 21, with a gala concert for parents. The YSMC attracts students from across the Rocky Mountains to the NWC campus in Powell.

Many scholarships are available, but some are given on a first-come, first-served basis, so early applicants have the best chance of reducing their camp costs. YSMC campers may apply for scholarships in solo/small ensemble, senior, leadership and all-state music. Award amounts, application instructions and eligibility requirements are available online.

Music instructors from across the United States provide personal attention to musicians in concert bands and choirs, jazz bands and choirs, and select small ensemble groups. Campers are invited to enroll in special interest classes like jazz band, jazz choir, musical theater, boomwackers, jazz combos, ensembles, guitar, studio recording, graphic arts, fun and fitness and many more. Private lessons on all instruments and voice are also available.

Online registration and scholarship submissions are required. When paid by June 1, full tuition, room and board at the Yellowstone Summer Music Camp is $595, or $395 for commuters who pay tuition only. Campus check-in is June 16.

For more information about the camp (including camp schedule, registration form and scholarship applications), follow the “Music Camp” drop-down arrow at http://www.northwestmusic.org, or contact the camp secretary at 800-560-4692, ext. 6425, or 307-754-6425.

The YSMC culminates with a 2 p.m. concert Friday, June 21, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
