The Northwestern College Difference

The Four Pillars

Your learning is supported by the four pillars of a Northwestern education. These pillars make a powerful difference in how you will learn and grow.

  • Wholeheartedly Christian
Northwestern really does offer adult education you can have faith in. Our unwavering commitment to biblical truth and Christ's Great Commission sets us apart from other programs you may be considering. Faith and learning are combined with practical application to your work and life circumstances.
  • Academically Excellent
Northwestern offers world-class education for your professional development and career advancement. You'll learn from experts in their fields who have a commitment to excellence and to helping students reach their fullest potential.
  • Focused on Community
Learning from and with others who share your faith creates a sense of community that will support you in your education and in your life. Cohort learning and opportunities for online interaction will keep you connected as you move through your course of study.
  • Engaged in the World
Being a Christian isn't isolating; it's enlarging. Whether it's through reaching out to others in your organization or community, or being inspired to put your faith into action through mission projects, we'll support you in your efforts to make a difference in the world.
Cohort learning

Northwestern’s adult education programs incorporate a cohort learning model. This means that you will be working alongside your peers at the same time they work through the weekly lessons. A cohort is admitted together in the program, classes are taken together and camaraderie is built over a period of semesters.

Cohort learning provides several advantages:

  • Develop lasting relationships with cohort members
  • Receive support and encouragement of cohort colleagues
  • Integrate the knowledge gained through the course material and through the experience of others
  • Connect coursework within programs and integrate curriculum content to provide continuity and understanding.
  • Focus together on one course at a time

Many graduates find their cohort relationships to be cornerstones of their ongoing professional networks.
