Fulbright awards granted to professors and student
May 15 - Northwestern College professors Sally Harris and Lisanne Winslow have received Fulbright Scholarships to conduct international research and graduating senior Ahna Boyum has received a Fulbright award to teach English in Thailand.
Sally Harris, Ph.D., professor of English, will teach and conduct research in applied linguistics at Tumaini University in the south-central highlands of Tanzania, Africa during the 2008-09 academic beginning in September.
Lisanne Winslow, Ph.D., professor of biology, has been invited by the Misaki Marine Biological Station in Tokyo, to conduct laboratory research on the effects of global warming and changing ocean temperatures on three species of Pacific Rim sea urchins. Winslow will be teaching in the University Of Tokyo Graduate Program Of Marine Sciences and conducting her research beginning in January 2009.
Ahna Boyum, a Christian Ministries major from Cambridge, Minn., received a Fulbright Scholarship to spend six months in Thailand teaching English as a Second Language beginning in September. Boyum is Northwestern’s fourth student Fulbright recipient in five years.
