Distinguished Alumni of the Year
Mrs. Irma Warr ‘55

Irma graduated from Northwestern College in 1955. Upon completing a degree in Christian Education, Irma went right to work at Minnetonka Community Church serving alongside author and teacher, Tim LaHaye. She then served faithfully on the full time staff for the Navigators.

Upon moving to Oklahoma City in 1964, Irma married Gene Warr, a local land developer, who had a deep passion for ministry. Irma began traveling extensively on an international scale, speaking at conferences and other large gatherings. Irma has written numerous books, articles and other works on discipleship, relationships, and finances. Gene was one of the authors of the Billy Graham piece: “Steps to Peace with God.” God has richly blessed the Warrs.

In the fall of 2006 Gene went home to be with the Lord. Irma continues to travel and speak, oversee the foundations, and write for various publications. Irma currently serves alongside Dr. Cureton as the co-chair for the prayer effort for Envision Excellence capital campaign. Irma has six children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Paul Ramseyer ‘55

Paul became connected with Northwestern College when Dr. Riley asked Ramseyer’s parents to come and minister at Northwestern. In 1949 Paul Ramseyer began to serve on staff with Northwestern College & Radio, where he served faithfully for 48 years. He held the roles of Announcer, Program Director, KTIS Manager, and finally Vice President for Radio and Outreach. He retired in 1997.

Since then, Ramseyer still represents Northwestern Radio as he travels around the world on behalf of Christian radio. Paul also established the Ramseyer Endowment Scholarship, which was set up to financially assist students who are seeking a ministry career in cross-cultural communications.

He is married to Grace and they have two children, Tim and Carolyn. The Ramseyers have contributed greatly to Northwestern College over the years in numerous ways. Paul’s tireless work ethic and gracious spirit helped establish KTIS as one of the premier Christian radio networks.

Young Alumni of the Year
Mrs. Dalynn Hoch ‘94

Dalynn (Morton) Hoch graduated from Northwestern in 1994 with a B.A. degree in Accounting and International Business. Dalynn was Northwestern’s first international business intern to Japan. She spent eight months with Cargill as a student intern doing operational and accounting process mapping. She also conducted job interviews for Cargill utilizing English & Japanese.

Dalynn is currently a CPA and audit partner with KPMG LLP in Minneapolis. She was admitted as a partner in 2004. Dalynn serves as a member of the National Board of Directors for First Children’s Finance. She is a national instructor for insurance and methodology training courses. She has worked as a volunteer mentor with Roosevelt High School students and at her local church.

In 1994 Dalynn helped launch and establish the Charles E. Kuivinen Business Student Scholarship. This endowed scholarship program assists numerous business students each year here at Northwestern College. Dalynn is a key member of the Envision Excellence Steering Committee. She is married to Emory and they have two children, Easton and Elynn.

Candy Wittstock '90

If you page through Northwestern’s women’s basketball records, you’ll find Candy Wittstock’s name throughout, as she set several benchmarks during her career at Northwestern. A forward for the Eagles in the 1986-87 and 1988-90 seasons, Candy was a key part of the 1988-89 team that reached the NCCAA national tournament and the 1989-90 team that won the conference championship. She is one of 12 players in Northwestern’s distinguished 1000 Point Club, having scored the fifth-highest point total in the school’s history (1470) while playing only 75 games (19.6 points per game).

Also a part of the 1989 softball team, Candy was a two-time NCCAA All-American and a three-year letter winner at Northwestern.

Other notable records that Wittstock holds today include first in career average points per game, second all-time in single season total points and second all-time in career three-point field goal percentage.

She and her husband, Daniel, currently live in Walnut Shade Missouri with their two children, Amanda and Zachary.

Peter Sola '90

In his years of track and field, Peter Sola was the name to beat in the hammer throw among NCCAA competition. A three-time NCCAA All-American, Sola took first place in the hammer throw in the 1986, 1987 and 1990 NCCAA national championships, while setting a new national record in his senior campaign with a throw of 162’1”.

Transitioning to football, Peter brought down the hammer on the Eagles offensive line, blocking for a rushing attack that averaged over 1350 yards per year throughout his four seasons, while earning a conference championship. Peter was a dedicated staff member for Northwestern College & Radio for near a decade from 1991 until 2001. He has recently returned to the Northwestern community as the new Director of Campus Safety. He is Married to Sarah, and they have 2 children, Jay and Palmer.
