Counseling Services
Welcome to the Counseling Services
At Northwestern College we are concerned about the whole person. This includes emotional and psychological well-being as well as academic and spiritual development.
Sensitive and confidential services are provided by trained counselors who are committed to high standards of professional practice and personal integrity. There are opportunities to be involved in either long- or short-term counseling. In addition, several assessment tools are available to help students learn more about themselves and to assist them in making informed choices about personal directions.
The Counseling Office is located in Nazareth Hall, Room 3087 and is open Monday—Friday. If appropriate, referrals are made to persons/agencies off campus.
The Counseling Services are available to all Northwestern College day school students, FOCUS students, and Pathways students. The services are not available to Distance Education students, unless that student is also taking day school classes or is a part of the Focus program. The services are also not available to graduate students, alumni, or staff/faculty. We will gladly provide referral options to those individuals that we cannot service. Counseling Services are a free service to students and our availability follows the day school calendar. We are closed during school breaks and during the summer.
Several sources of informal counseling are available to students on campus. The Campus and Outreach Ministries Office staff, Student Development deans, Career Development personnel, and faculty members are available for individual/group counseling regarding spiritual, social, academic, or personal matters.
Christians in Counseling
Many Christians who pursue counseling are concerned that their faith and Christian values will be understood and supported by their counselor. As professionally trained, Christian counselors we are committed to providing the highest quality services while being Biblically consistent.
